If you have gum disease or other oral health concerns that need to be more closely monitored, you may need to see the dentist more frequently.

Are crowns better than veneers?

Accepted Answer

Crowns and veneers serve two different purposes, thus neither is better than the other. A veneer is used when a tooth is healthy but needs to be improved cosmetically; a crown can accomplish aesthetic improvements, but it’s more often used when a tooth is damaged by an injury or decay. A veneer restores appearance, while a crown restores appearance, function, and strength.

What happens if you haven’t been to a dentist in years?

We'll start with a thorough oral examination and dental cleaning, then use advanced digital x-rays to look for cavities and other issues that aren't apparent during a visual evaluation. Your visit may take a little longer than normal as we go over your dental history with you, but everything else during your appointment will be the same as it is for any other patient.

How painful is a root canal?

Accepted Answer

Most root canals are no more painful than having a cavity filled thanks to advances in endodontics and local anesthesia. You may experience some discomfort and sensitivity after the local anesthetic wears off in the hours after your procedure, but this is usually minor and may be alleviated with over-the-counter pain medication.

Can dental implants be done in one day?

While certain dental implant restorations can be finished in only one appointment, traditional dental implants require multiple visits to allow adequate time for healing and bone growth. When you come in for your appointment, we'll let you know if you're a good candidate for same-day dental implants and go over all of your options with you.
